Day 42 (lock down)

Monday 4th May - bike ***** - Felixstowe to Levington Marina – Sunny and warm.

A good day, Mag has a fairly stress-free early morning visit to Lidl and gets enough for three weeks so she can forget about shopping to awhile. Then we have a lovely video call from Grandson Arlo and Robert who is nearly three now and was showing use how he can tell the time, he is a genius!!!! Then I do my exercises in the garden in warm sunshine the 48th consecutive day I have done them, I must be super fit even if a few pounds heavier! and I am disturbed by loads of noisy Gulls above the house and spot a Buzzard being seen off by the Gulls, I call Mag and she comes to see him too, it’s the first Buzzard we have ever seen in Felixstowe town! Then with a sandwich backed to head out on the bikes for our daily exercise at one. We go Walton just outside Felixstowe, over the dock lock road then turn left along a new footpath for us which takes use under the railway lines twice, we even saw a train. It was a lovely tree lined route which brings you out near Cordys Lane. Then through the tree lined paths coming out by the River Orwell by Loompit Lake. The tide was very low but not many birds about but sadly we saw 10 dead trout in the lake, a problem with algae we believe:( It was then around to ‘Elaine’s’ seat in the marina BBQ area a lovely sheltered sunny spot out of a good breeze! Another yummy sandwich in this beautiful quiet spot and the dangly legged black flies are still out in force, Mag checked on her phone and discovered they are Hawthorn Fly. We stayed watching the wildlife, mainly bugs and butterflies, maybe seeing some Swifts, so time to get the swift calls going at home to attract them to our new nest box, before setting off for home via Goslings Nursery for flour, the only place in Felixstowe we can find it! As Mag also bought two herb plants in pots, we took the main road home for a welcome cuppa and cake:)
Hopefully we are over the worse of this dreadful virus and there is take of starting to relax some of the lock down restrictions soon, so perhaps I can think about screwing my windsurfing foil back together again and fingers crossed can be back on the water by the end of the month???
